Meet Cocobean ….
the adorable Mini-Doodle!

Affectionate Mini-Doodle – Cocobean – 9Yrs

Cocobean is 9 years old, has the most loving and sensitive personality  and  lives in a beautiful country bungalow on the Lancaster Canal near Carnforth in the South Lakes District in UK.

I have the privilege and pleasure of spending time with her whilst her family is travelling to New Zealand and Australia for three weeks.

During this time, Cocobean and I have explored and walked around some of what must be the most character filled villages and indeed the most spectacular scenery in United Kingdom.  Basically, we are located between the Lakes District and the Yorkshire Dales all of which contain UNESCO heritage listed areas and for reasons that are very justified.

My wonderful hosts, have gone to great lengths to ensure that my stay is extremely comfortable with loads of extra touches including beautifully selected fresh flowers throughout their beautiful home.

Thank you Steve, Michele and Georgi for your wonderful hospitality…. I look forward to our ongoing friendship and look forward to the next time we meet.

Well what can we say - Anthony was everything and more you could wish for in a pet and house sitter!

He immediately put us at ease and quickly made friends with Cocobean.

His daily photos and Instagram posts were wonderful and we could see from the photos that Cocobean was happy and well looked after. <br.
Anthony explored the area and took Cocobean to lots of new destinations (and various coffee and lunch stops!) He was extremely considerate and on the day we returned, we found he had washed all the linen and a great fruit bowl, flowers and chocolates greeted us.

The house was immaculate and Cocobean was obviously very fond of him.

Anthony himself is a very interesting person and we hope to see him again, either as our pet sitter or as a friend when he is next close by.

Its a shame the rating only goes up to 5 stars!

 My hosts are Trevor and Rosie with their two adorable dogs Ronnie and Rico in a wonderful yet remote location in Adeje and the warmth of south of Tenerife.

Tenerife is the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, off West Africa.

It’s dominated by Mt. Teide, a dormant volcano that is Spain’s tallest peak.

Tenerife may be best known for its Carnaval de Santa Cruz, a huge pre-Lent festival with parades, music, dancing and colorful costumes.

The island has many beaches (with sands from yellow to black) and resort areas, including Los Cristianos and Playa de las Américas.

Rico is a 5 years old chilled out Goldendoodle and  Ronnie is a lively and cheeky Maltese Shih Tzu, also 5 years old.  Ronnie and Rico look so much alike,  yet were a totally seperate adoption as rescue dogs and both have a wonderful loving nature.

Visiting Heidelberg to care for Hugo and Millie is like stepping into the pages of a picture book.

The city has all the ingredients for fabulous walks – beautiful Baroque buildings grace the Old Town (Aldstadt) and red-roofed houses nestle along the Neckar River, which features a very historic footbridge.

From many aspects I gaze up to take in the spectacular and imposing Heidelberg Castle which is most definitely the main feature and tourist attraction of the quaint town.

Most sitters are good, a few a little less desirable, and then someone like Anthony comes along that you wish you could book every time.

PROFESSIONAL is the word that comes to mind.

From his application, to profile, to most importantly the level of care given to our pets and home. Anthony is highly experienced and highly rated for a reason. He tailors the sit to exactly what you want/need it to be with just the right amount of communication and little perks when you arrive home.

He's also generally just a bright and great guy to meet.

This is the third time that I have been fortunate enough to be invited to house sit in the wonderful area South Spain known as Malaga.

One of the most valuable benefits of house sitting is the genuine “life-long” friends that I make along the way.

Mel and Ron, in particular, are no exception and they have welcomed me into their home and their family in an extraordinary way.  I seriously feel so very privileged and blessed to be considered as a family friend. This truly is an honour and an absolute privilege to care for their home and importantly their four legged family whilst they, in turn, visit their family in Holland!

On this occasion, sadly the wonderfully personality of the loveable Border Terrier, “Mac” whose loving nature has always been a highlight of my visit, is sadly missing.  Age has unfortunately taken it’s toll with Mac and he is now in a happier place. However, his best mate, the cheeky Yorkie, “Lobo” , continues to provide much joy with his never ending antics, energy and mesmerising characteristics.

Two dogs, two cats and a lovely garden in the beautiful West Sussex Village of Balcombe amongst the lovely rolling hills of the English countryside.

What else could a house sitter need?  Oh yes, a fabulous supply of fresh courgettes, beans, spinach, lettuce and other yummy vegetables direct from the private garden, a nice village pub, of course, and a place with a quiet spacious conservatory ideal for working without distraction – (Well mostly quiet, apart from Rusty the mad Border Collie incessantly wanting to play ?)

Max and Nicola, my wonderful hosts, had gone to great lengths to ensure a very warm welcome.

A delicious meal prepared with fresh veggies direct from the garden, together with very tasty Maroccan chicken made for a fabulously inviting welcome supper.

To ensure I also had sufficient sustenance to endure Rusty’s energetic and unending demands with his ball (and any other object he feel would make for a great game of fetch)  the pantry was also generously stocked with a lovely selection of deliscious gourmet delights to enjoy during my stay.

Casper the Black Labrador

The small and thoroughly charming, largely untouched historic town of Mintaro is the home of a warm and wonderful community of people.  Upon arrival, I was  greeted with a lovely “cocktail party” very kindly arranged by my generous hosts, Ross and Gail.  

This “get-together” with locals and neighbours was a thoughtful touch and indeed, a much appreciated means of introducing me to the community and ensuring that I was made to feel  very much “at home” for my 4 weeks housesitting assignment. 

The resultant welcome, subsequently extended to me by many of the residents of this lovely town, certainly had me immediately living like a local and was the catalyst of many new friendships.  

These are friendships that I know will be valued for many years to come. 

Aside from the wonderful community, the town of Mintaro is situated in the picturesque Clare Valley wine region of South Australia and also features some of the most significant and captivating 19th century buildings.

I’m staying in one of them …. a fabulous character cottage circa 1850’s looking after a little terror named “Rastus”.

Together with magnificent walking trails, a feast of nearby wineries, art galleries and eateries, Mintaro has long been regarded as one of the region’s most captivating and picturesque destinations.

Indeed it is a lovely place where I enjoyed peace, tranquility, the fabulous friendliness  of the neighbours and, in particular the 24/7 company unrelentlessly provided by the loving and delightfully cheeky terrier, Ratty (Rastus).
